At last my hair is growing!!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

It's been almost 10 months ago since I decided to chop all my hair off a la Frankie Sandford (you can see it here, if you haven't already seen it) and almost immediately after having it all cut off I regretted it. I did try and persevere with it to see if it would grow on me after all super-short hair isn't something you can get used to straight away when you've always had long hair!

The last time I had it cut was Christmas eve ... naughty, I know! ... and after that I decided I was definitely going to grow it out. Growing it out has been a bit of a nightmare because my hair was different lengths but I have been trimming the one side myself so that it's more or less even. I know I should probably go to a hair dressers rather than do it myself but I'm scared that they'll take too much off. It's already taking ages to grow out! I have to say though, considering I haven't had it cut in as long it is in surprisingly good condition. It feels soft, looks shiny and has very few split ends, so something good has come out chopping it all off :)

This is how long my hair currently is - cue pouting, posing pic!

I'm giving it another 6 weeks it will be past my shoulders then I'm definitely going to go for a (little) trim. All in all I have to say that while it I regretted it it hasn't been the worst haircut I've ever had and I probably still haven't learned my lesson, but for now, bring on the long hair!!!

Long hair...oh how I miss you!!

It's been just over 3 months since I decided to have all my hair chopped off to achieve a hairstyle similar to Frankie Sandford (the Saturdays), and right now I'm really regretting it. At the time I did love it but deep down I always knew that I would probably regret doing it as growing it was going to be a long process and that it would be even harder since my hair is considerably shorter at one side! Usually my hair grows quite quickly and anytime I've had a bob I've been able to grow it out within about 6 months but just now my hair doesn't seem to be growing much at all and I have serious hair envy!!

Everytime I see someone with long hair I pine for my old hair! ha ha. Most people told me at the time not to do it but I thought my long hair was boring and I really wanted a change but I'm really bored with short hair, there's not really much you can do with. With long hair you have the option to curl, straighten, wave, wear it up, wear it down and if you're Cheryl Cole you can wear it like a bow if you desire! (Wasn't really a fan of that myself though)

At the moment I'm seriously considering hair extensions but I don't really know much about them. I had a quick look into them but there seems so many different ones to choose from and I don't know what would be best for my hair, or if my hair is even long enough to get them!
So as 2010 is coming to an end I can say I've learned one thing about myself - I do actually have my limits! I can 100% say that my hair will never be cut above my shoulders again. I tried it and I don't like it so by doing it I've learned something, and you know what they say; you'll never know if you like something till you've tried it.

Review - Aussome Volume?!

Recently as my hair has grown a little longer I've noticed that it looks constantly flat! So I went on a mission to find a shampoo and conditioner that would make my hair full of volume a la Cheryl cole without having to use too much product on my hair (usually it requires LOADS of mousse and enough hairspray to make my room highly explosive!) So after trying a few products with no results I noticed 'Aussie Aussome Volume' and being a huuuge fan of their '3 Minute Miracle' I decided I wouldn't be too disappointed. I'm extremely optimistic :D ha!

So here's my review

What is it?

Aussie Aussome Volume shampoo (300ml) and Aussome conditioner (250ml)

How much does it cost?

In Asda it's usually about £3.44 each it was on offer when I first bought it at 2 for £6

What it says:

Shampoo: Our unique lightweight formula, with extract of Australian hops, leaves hair with wonderful fullness and body. Big hair is beautiful.

Fair enough, beer's probably the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Australian hops, but there's a lot more to these little fellas than meets the eye. It's believed that the proteins in the hops coat your hair and help build it up. Frankly we think beer is a waste of good hops.

Conditioner: Our unique aussie formula, with extract of Australian hops, leaves your fine hair with wonderful fullness and body. So try this and you'll be in front of the mirror thinking - 'Wow, What am I going to do with all this lovely hair?'

Sounds good, huh?

What I thought

The first time I used them it was all great. I loved the smell (nothing like the 3 minute miracle conditioner thankfully!), it was great at lathering my hair felt amazingly clean and I swear my hair looked slightly fuller. So I was happy with the results. So the next day I washed my hair with it again and this time when my hair was dried it was back to being flat. Slightly disappointing but I thought perhaps I'd have to use it a while before I got any results. So for the last 8 weeks I've been using this shampoo and conditioner, and i will continue with it until it runs out, but I definitely haven't had any results as far as bigger hair is concerned :(

Would I buy it again?

I'm not actually sure if I would buy it again. It does get your hair really clean and as I have oily hair I've noticed it doesn't get quite as oily as quick as it normally would. I love the smell too, it's hard to describe it but it doesn't smell as soapy? as normal shampoos do. Definitely wouldn't buy it to achieve volume though.

Rating - 3/5

Now where's the hairspray?!
